Reliable backups and fast, helpful support

We run a B2B HoReCa store with almost 2,000 products and a lot of apps that sync and bulk-edit data, so having daily backups of products, collections, metafields, themes and menus gives us real peace of mind.

When BackupMaster added menu backups, I wasn’t sure if the new permission had been applied. I contacted support and within an hour Alex had checked everything, confirmed the permissions and triggered a fresh backup – all 6 menus were backed up straight away. Quick, clear and friendly.

Easy to use, runs quietly in the background and doesn’t slow down the storefront. Recommended.

It also backs up Shopify Files (all 1,100+ of our media files), which was important for us.

Would like a backup solution that backs up everything, including files.

Noted a previous comment about 'Unfortunately, Shopify doesn't allow access to "Files" in the Shopify settings. As a result, we can't back them up. However, we will start backing them up if Shopify opens access to this section.'

The question is, has this been resolved and allow the ability to backup and restore media files.

It seems to do the job. I would say that the bare minimum nowadays is to have control over your backups, upload it to an external site using SFTP, and that comes with an excessive price tag. There are some other apps covering a second store for free, while this is with additional payment.

I would also ask them to include additional languages for people not speaking English or German, or the ability to not store any of our store data in their premises.

Another suggestion would be to be able to define retention and trigger on demand backups when you know you are about to do changes that can break stuff.

Having said that, I believe it is going in the right direction

I needed help backing up deleted products. The problem wasn't with BackupMaster, but with Shopify. Within a day, I received a detailed explanation of what the problem was and how I could fix it. The support is excellent and very friendly!

The app runs smoothly in the background. I had an instance last week with a product import that was missing image links.... some products lost their images.. within a few minutes I was able to restore them from the backup. Works flawlessly and already saved me many work hours (and might even have increased my life expectancy given lower overall stress level).
