Mailchimp Email SMS Marketing

I have been using mailchimp for a few years. It offers affordable plans for small business like me for a start. There are a lot of functions in the app, the more functions and more subscribers you have, the higher the subscription fees.

What I like about the app is their customer service. They provide real person to support me in the chatbox. I had trouble with my setting and customer service Nadz was very helpful and guided me through the whole process.

I also had trouble with my billing, there were extra charge once my contact exist 1500. The system does not send any email notification by default, so i learned that I have to check the billing cycle in the app very often to ensure that I don't get charged extra. Again, I got customer service to attend to my query.

Has been working fine in general, but I noticed it stopped syncing one day, so I reached out to the support and got really good help from Rhedd at their support team. The problem was solved within an hour.

Jean reached out to me to help with the integration when I was having trouble with webshop subscribers.
They were helpful and eager to figure things out, but as it was already almost midnight my end, I asked them to email me to follow up the problem with fresh eyes.
During initial troubleshooting, however, I tried to reinstall the plugin on Shopify, and that's where everything went wrong overnight - the plugin assigned all my past customers as new customers, and they all got pushed through an automation receiving incorrect emails from me.

It's thankfully all fixed now, but the extra work wasn't great. Perhaps the plugin should have a warning about this, or at-least check order dates and only process new customers added from the moment the plugin installs?

That's why 4/5 stars. This was unnecessary.

SEPH was very kind and helpful. She explained the issue clearly and helped me understand the best way to set it up.

However, it is inconvenient that customer tags added in Mailchimp do not sync back to Shopify. Please take note of this for future improvement.

Great app, used for over 10 years and good customer service and quick replies - only once you reach out to them a few times (that's my experience). There is always room for iprovement the in app customer service was a little slow to respond, so I think fix that and you'll get more 5 star ratings.

Positive
- The support is available quickly to help you on the integration part
- They follow up on topic even after you close the conversation

Negative
- Integration does not contain anyway to capture the customer language (critical on my use case)
- Critical data retention issue. Note that even after you disconnect the Shopify from Mailchimp all your contacts will remain in Mailchimp (even if the pop up says otherwise).
- Moreover, if you delete manually the contacts, they remains in "hidden database". How do I know this ? I tried to synch them back and support told me it is impossible because you deleted them in the past ! Oh yeah, how do you know this without keeping a record ? We don't have the same definition of deletion

I have strong concerned now about the data policy of Mailchimp.

Mailchimp : I am opened to edit my review if you prove me otherwise for the data retention issue. For now, support did not convince me

Great app and even better support. I ran into an issue while setting up the Mailchimp integration with Shopify and Lance was extremely helpful with troubleshooting. He took the time to understand what was going on, walked me through the issue, and helped get everything sorted out quickly.

Mary helped me work out a few bugs in our connection with shopify and Mailchimp. We had a theme update back in May and lost the SMS connection and needed to reconnect all of our cusotmers. She even went the extra mile to sync customer data on her end to make sure all the data went through on both sides so we can capture all the new customers we have obtained from the last big trades shows we did in June and July. She had excellent cusotmer service while I had other questions about the other services that Mailchimp has to offer and I plan to message them again to get the additional features added during business hours when I have more time. GREAT Job and always happy to work with Mailchimp team as they are always so helpful to fix issues.

Works fine out of the box.
The only thing i had troubles with is with the combination of the shopify standard newsletter signup form and editing or adding tags, to create the mailchimp automation flow i want.
The Support of Nadz was very helpful to explore different ways to find a solution.
