Transcy: AI Language Translate

It started off really well, but has consistently gone down hill in last 6 months. Consistent billing issues, translations getting deleted and redirects not working.

And there really is no AI translation unless you pay for some kind of enterprise plan. It's Google Translate.

The support is always fast though .. but they make you run around in circles. Any issue they always blame on others - it's either SHopify billing issues or I must have clicked the wrong button on the app!!

This has to be one of the most frustrarting experiences I have ever had with an app.

Installed this app about 1 h ago, it takes a few minutes to get a handle on the setup and start correcting auto-translations. During the setup my translations stalled for some reason so I asked for help in the Chat (my rep was Giselle). The support is immediate and stellar, fixed the issue in minutes (which is not standard with most apps). The app is actually very intuitive. Translation quality is similar to Google Translate, so you need to go through each to proofread - this is the time consuming part that you have with every app. Overall I can really recommend this app!

Update: The 3rd party app translations sometimes overwrite already applied translations inside transcy. It's a nightmare to get this sorted (I've been going on about 3 weeks trying to get this done now). The app works fine, but it overwriting itself is a massive problem.

I had some questions on putting the switcher in a specific spot in my theme and was helped super fast (on a weekend day, even) which I really appreciate.
The app is very extensive and takes a bit of getting used to, but everything is done very intuitively and after learning how to work with it, it's absolutely perfect for both language and currency efforts.

I chose $19.9. This software is very easy to use, and the function control interface is very clear. The most important thing is that I have received very high-quality service from the software team. Every time, the technical customer service team can reply to my messages in a timely manner and solve my problems efficiently. Even if some problems are more difficult, they will try their best to help me find the reasons and give reasonable and sincere suggestions. When I need to wait, I will be notified in advance, instead of making me feel annoyed because I don't know the situation. In general, this is an excellent software, and it also has a group of excellent technical service teams. Choose them with confidence.

Updated review: After the documentation of the issues during setup and soon after. Grace has really gone above and beyond to help us with our translation. We had to get a developer to implement the checkout but Grace was able to help us in other regards, it hasn't been a smooth road by any means but Grace is a huge asset to her company. One of the most frustrating experiences with any app support that I've ever experienced. Multiple issues upon installation - including checkout translation not working. Support fixed this but then had an issue with product filter and search app not being translated and then an issue with mobile users being stuck in a 404 loop resulting in our website being unusable. These issues were eventually fixed but now checkout is not being translated again and now their support says they can't fix it. Extremely frustrating

Hab heute binnen weiß nicht was, 30 Minuten oder so, den gesamten Jewelry Shop von Hoffnungsträger Yoga Jewelry übersetzen lassen in 5 der meist gesprochenen Sprachen in Europe. Hatte Hilfe von einer Admin namens Flora. Sie hat einen Top Job gemacht. Super schnell und sehr hilfsbereit. War ein wenig anspruchsvoll, weil das alles über den Chat lief und die Bilder dort zu klein sind, um sie zu lesen. Ich hab dann mit rechter Maustaste aber die Bilder gespeichert und in PPT kopiert. Ging dann viel besser, sie zu lesen. Vielleicht würde ein PDF helfen, was Transcy schicken könnte. ;-) Aber der Support an sonsten war echt super und ich hab schon mal reingelesen. Ich glaube, die Texte sind alle total super übersetzt. Wahnsinn, was Tech heute kann. Ich bin tief beeindruckt. Übrigens hab ich mich halt einfach nicht von den schlechten Kommentaren verrückt machen lassen. Die App läuft Hammer und super Ergebnisse!

This is the best service I have ever received on an app. I was very shy with all the different translation apps, and in the end I choose this one because of the price and that you are not charged for the AI translation. I would suggest it is best to have your store base language in english, I unfortunately did not have. But the app easily allows you to manual change the languages on each page. Great app!

Update 4 months later:
Great customer service. But the app itself is lacking a lot. If you are using many theme templates, you are better off with another app. There is no clear way possible of easily managing the translations of your different theme templates. For shopify 2.0 this app is not recommended. The app is messing with internal links often. If you don't pay attention your site is probably unusable and showing a lot of 404 pages in the other language. The customer serivce is fast and good. I guess they have a hard job only working on solving problems.

Honestly? It is pretty chaotic. Yesterday I had one help person who completely messed up the languages on our second shop - though I had specified extremely clearly (twice!) what was needed. Today, someone has simply renamed our theme without letting us know, while they try to fix a bug. They don't seem to understand version control and the importance of informing the shop owner about something as basic as renaming a theme. They also have a habit, when something has clearly gone wrong, of saying that it was someone else at Transcy, not them. So i guess they don't brief each other on a job, or do a clear hand-over if someone else comes in on a new shift halfway through a job? On one help request, it seems you can easily end up with three different people and there is a lot of starting from scratch to explain the issue each time. Finally, they push and push endlessly to ask for a review. I was even asked, "Why don't you have time to write a review for us?" It's not very professional. As I say, the overall impression is that it's pretty chaotic on the help side.

I'm very frustrated with the guys here at Transcy. When it comes to SEO they are very vague in their answers. I have asked several times about why we aren't ranking very well in other languages ie spanish, dutch, swedish etc and they keep saying there's many reasons. I fully understand this however I have since found out that image alt text or hreflang is important and these are two things this app doesn't offer. I feel frustrated as I have asked numerous times about their app and it's ability to help rank in SEO within chosen countries and I feel they haven't been fully honest about the capabilities of their app. It is vitally important that we rank for other languages as we are a Spanish company, english speaking, based in Spain. So the spanish translation HAS to perform well in SEO but there are things this app doesn't offer that is essential for this to happen. Yes, it does offer content translation, page title translation & meta tag translation but it doesn't offer image alt text or hreflang translation! I just wish they were honest when asked about this as i would have been able to move to weglot a long time ago!
