What merchants think

Feedback submitted

Merchants say this app is easy to set up, with a clean, Shopify‑native interface and automatic “set it and forget it” backups. They value reliable, granular restores for themes, products, pages, and more, plus store cloning and external exports. Many mention it “saved” their business after theme issues, deletions, or bad imports. Support is praised as fast, proactive, and honest, with no performance impact and competitive pricing.

Would like a backup solution that backs up everything, including files.

Noted a previous comment about 'Unfortunately, Shopify doesn't allow access to "Files" in the Shopify settings. As a result, we can't back them up. However, we will start backing them up if Shopify opens access to this section.'

The question is, has this been resolved and allow the ability to backup and restore media files.

Thank you for your review and for raising this question.

The earlier comment you referenced was accurate at the time, as Shopify did not provide apps with API access to the Files section.

Shopify has since made Files available through its API, and BackupMaster now supports backing up and restoring Shopify Files/media files that are available to apps.

We’ve also recently added backup and restore support for Shopify Menus.

Shopify is a large and constantly evolving platform with many different types of store data. Some data is not exposed to apps through Shopify’s APIs, while other data types require dedicated development and testing to ensure they can be backed up and restored reliably. We therefore focus on the areas merchants rely on most and continue expanding our coverage over time.

We’ve also sent you an email with some additional details. If there is any specific type of data you would like to confirm, please feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to clarify what is currently supported.

It seems to do the job. I would say that the bare minimum nowadays is to have control over your backups, upload it to an external site using SFTP, and that comes with an excessive price tag. There are some other apps covering a second store for free, while this is with additional payment.

I would also ask them to include additional languages for people not speaking English or German, or the ability to not store any of our store data in their premises.

Another suggestion would be to be able to define retention and trigger on demand backups when you know you are about to do changes that can break stuff.

Having said that, I believe it is going in the right direction

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback and suggestions.

BackupMaster already supports manual on-demand backups, so you can create a backup at any time before making significant changes to your store.

We also keep historical backup versions automatically, and you can export backup data outside BackupMaster, including scheduled exports to Google Drive.

For additional stores, each Shopify store requires its own subscription because each store has its own backup data, storage, processing, and restore environment.

We also appreciate your suggestions regarding additional languages and external storage options. Shopify is a very broad ecosystem, so we continuously prioritise improvements based on merchant demand, technical feasibility, and the need to ensure backup and restore functionality remains reliable.

We also recently added backup and restore support for Shopify Menus as part of our ongoing work to expand coverage.

Thank you again for taking the time to share detailed feedback.
