Merchants highlight the AI agent as a major upgrade that syncs with store data to give accurate, brand‑aligned answers and reduce repetitive support. Many report faster responses, better customer experience, and higher conversions, especially with strong FAQs. They value deep store integration, email follow‑up, and mobile access, plus flexible settings for availability and lead capture. Several note reliable performance, improved notifications, and responsive development.

At peak times, our storefront is so busy, we just can't answer the phone!
We refer our customers to the online chat feature of our Shopify Inbox so that we can get back to them with complete answers or they can access the instant answers in the Inbox.
I love it! It takes away all the junk and sales emails although they are sneaking in here and there! It makes the conversation flow and doesn't get lost in emails! It makes our customer experience much better!
Great potential BUT so many flaws that I'm looking for an alternative now....
1-Like all other reviews, I don't like that profiles are being created when someone enters their email address - I doubt this is even legal (following current privacy/GDPR regulations)
2-The fact that customer have to screenshot an image so I can see what product they're talking about is not practical. The app should be able to automatically "capture" whatever product-page they're contacting me from (other apps do this).
3-I should be able to reply to these people via text (instead of -or as well as - email). I've lost sales because of this. A customer may not see a reply if it's sent to their email inbox, even if I reply within minutes. That email may even end up in their spam folder and I don't have the time to be chasing POTENTIAL-customers individually.
Good things: the design is beautiful. Installing the application super easy. The FAQs feature is beautifully designed and so easy to use/customise (the faq-suggestions given are amazing).
Hi there. Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we truly appreciate it. As I can completely understand the benefit of having that as a feature for the app, I've gone ahead and shared your feedback with our developers. This will allow us to consider this in future updates. - Blair, Shopify Support
Now that Facebook and Instagram are no longer integrated, we need to look for another app. This app had potential, but now sadly is slightly better than useless
Hi there! Thank you for sharing your feedback. Currently, the Facebook & Instagram Messenger Channel is no longer supported by Shopify Inbox. However, customers can still initiate conversations while browsing your online store and through the Shop chat on the Shop App. -Mac, Shopify Support
It looks good, however, can't figre out how to configure answers to FAQ, that should be a simple feature. If I can't do that I will have to uninstall as there will be a lot of messages that are only a waste of time to answer.
Hi there! Thank you for reviewing the Shopify Inbox app. To configure your FAQ section quickly, you can utilize the Instant Answers feature. This allows you to create automatic responses for frequently asked questions, which will be presented to customers when they click the chat button. You can learn how to set this up by following this guide: https://shopify.link/kz7D. -Mac, Shopify Support
Shopify Inbox has served us very well over the years, however I would like to disable the recently introduced CATCHPA on the Inbox Chat. I do not believe this feature is serving us well. It reduces considerably the number of opportunistic chats that are taking place. Our potential customers do not want to jump through hoops to chat with us. Just add this option to the settings. In the meantime I am tempted to look for something else to replace Inbox.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'm happy to hear that you have been enjoying the app over the years. To provide some context, reCAPTCHA helps analyze the behavior of visitors to your online store to block spam from bots. However, you can disable reCAPTCHA on your store by following this guide: https://shopify.link/2drP. Rest assured, I have shared your feedback with our developers as we're always looking for ways to improve the app. -Mac, Shopify Support
Really good, it's reduced our email enquiries and increased sales.
Would love to see more automations in the app
I'm thoroughly impressed by the utility of this app. Its user-friendly interface makes navigation a breeze, significantly enhancing my communication with potential customers. I highly recommend it for its ability to boost customer satisfaction and drive sales.
The app is simple and hasslefree. It seems to work extremely well and doesn't really have any shortcomings. We are looking at some form of integration with an AI system but it's early days yet but clearly we can see the potential is there although we assume that shop I will probably probably enhance its capabilities in this area over time. It certainly simple for the staff to use as it currently is to discuss issues with customers and also to upload attachments and instruction sheets.
I like shopify inbox, it's worked really well for my customer. However despite following all the steps I still can't make notifications work on Chrome. I have to rely on seeing these on my phone/email. Also would be nice to be able to choose exact position on the page, I think it interferes with my cookies pop up sometimes.
Hey, there! I'm sorry to hear that you haven't been able to get your desktop notifications working. In Chrome, desktop notifications for new Inbox messages should appear when your browser is open and you're logged in to your Shopify account.
That said, in order to receive desktop notifications on the computer, you also need to click "Allow" when prompted by your browser in order to allow desktop notifications from Shopify Inbox. The browser prompt appears the first time you log into Shopify Inbox. If you missed or dismissed the pop-up prompt the first time, then you can access your Shopify Inbox desktop notification settings at any time by clicking your name on Shopify Inbox > Notifications. If you're still not receiving notifications after checking this, feel free to reach out to our Support team any time and we can continue troubleshooting with you: https://bit.ly/2AWw5VA.
Regarding being able to move the Shopify Inbox chat box, I can definitely understand why this would be useful. I'll be sure to share that as a feature request with our developers for you. Take care! - Brie, Shopify Support
