What merchants think

Feedback submitted

Merchants highlight the AI agent as a major upgrade that syncs with store data to give accurate, brand‑aligned answers and reduce repetitive support. Many report faster responses, better customer experience, and higher conversions, especially with strong FAQs. They value deep store integration, email follow‑up, and mobile access, plus flexible settings for availability and lead capture. Several note reliable performance, improved notifications, and responsive development.

1. Loading is far too slow! If the network is slightly worse, the loading speed is 3-5 times slower than the old version!

2. The FAQ section only appears when customer service agents are offline, rendering it practically useless; under normal circumstances, it merely displays static, meaningless product images.

3. The AI chatbot fails to answer questions even when the relevant information exists in the Knowledge Base; it only responds if the details are explicitly described on the product page itself. This is extremely inconvenient for listing products via modular plugins.

4. It is no longer possible to customize the underlying behavior of the AI chatbot (e.g., you cannot customize the automated response triggered when handing off the conversation to a human agent).

5. The inability to customize the AI's core logic means it acts foolishly when encountering unfamiliar questions and delivers stiff, unnatural responses; optimization relies entirely on Shopify code adjustments rather than allowing for direct customization of the AI's persona or behavior.

Thank you for the detailed list. The core issue you raised, no email means no identification and no delivered replies, is what we fixed. A new Inbox setting lets customers share their name and email to start a chat, like the previous Inbox, so conversations connect to a real contact again. It is rolling out to all stores now under Sales channels > Inbox > Chat settings > Collect customer details. Choose Require name and email there (the other options are Require customers to sign-in and Allow anonymous chats). One note: this applies to chats with your team. The AI agent still answers anonymous visitors instantly, by design, so customers get help in seconds even while you are offline. We default to sign-in because it confirms the customer owns the email they leave, but you can now choose the simpler path. Your notes on SKUs and split conversations are with the team.

Dank je for the clear description. Every point you raised traces to the removed name and email step, and it is back. A new Inbox setting lets customers share their name and email to start a chat, like the previous Inbox, so chats link to customers and offline replies reach their inbox again. We default to sign-in because it confirms the customer owns the email they leave, but you can now choose the simpler flow.

a nova atualização está pessima! Não pede email do cliente e se você não estive online pra responder, não tem como responder mais depois como antes que a resposta ia pro email do cliente.

Obrigado for the feedback. You are right: without an email, replies sent after the customer leaves have nowhere to go. A new Inbox setting brings this back. Customers can share their name and email to start a chat, like the previous Inbox, so your answers reach them even when you are offline. It is rolling out to all stores now under Sales channels > Inbox > Chat settings > Collect customer details. Choose Require name and email there (the other options are Require customers to sign-in and Allow anonymous chats). One note: this applies to chats with your team. Unfortunately a complete downgrade since the new update. Customers are not asked for their email so we cant stay in contact anymore. If youre using the login tool people have to verify by 2fa. This was our main sales funnel & is now complete useless.

Thank you for the feedback, and I am sorry this hit your main sales funnel. The email step is back as an option: a new Inbox setting lets customers share their name and email to start a chat, with no login or two-factor step, like the previous Inbox. We default to sign-in because it confirms the customer owns the email they leave, so your follow-ups reach real buyers, but the lower friction path is now your call.

Sometimes messages that are read and replied to still show as a new message.
Other than that its a good feature. Easy to use with fast prompts.

Shopify Inbox previously required visitors to provide their name and email address (for follow-up purposes) before sending a message; it now allows anonymous chats, though messages cannot be delivered to the customer if they leave the conversation.

Thank you for the precise description. That gap, anonymous chats with undeliverable replies, is what we fixed. A new Inbox setting lets customers share their name and email before chatting, like the previous Inbox, so your replies can reach them after they leave. We default to sign-in because it confirms the customer owns the email they leave, but you can now choose the simpler path for your store.

Thanks for the clear report, and you're right that closing the chat should be just as easy on mobile as it is on desktop. Other merchants have flagged this too, and a missing close control on phones is often tied to the widget size or a theme conflict on the storefront. Our team can look at your specific store and help make it dismissible at help.shopify.com/support, and we'll pass the mobile close-button gap to the Inbox team.
