I was very happy to find this app when Mailchimp pulled out of Shopify. I downloaded the app, followed the prompts and like magic my Mailchimp was connected and worked exactly the same. I created an email and sent it to my email list just like always. I am very happy to see a FREE offer as well. For a small business selling Mommy & Me Fashions this is very important. Thank you ShopSync. Very happy. Pamela, MomMeAndMore.com

Awesome 5 stars , simple easy to switch to keep mailchimp connected / running from Shopify just follow the direction. If you have a lot 20K+ of products, customers, orders it will take days to sync up. Also in mailchimp the abandon cart email sequence will have to saved as templates and moved to start a NEW ab cart sequence hooked to sync shopsync. The old sync in shopify for mailchimp doesn't work, transfer over. A+ app. 150% easy to use operate.

I was able to install the app and complete the sync without any problems. My biggest concern is that my email list DOUBLED in size and now I'm left wondering where all of the extra subscribers came from. Are they real subscribers or people that previously unsubscribed? Or did I get random emails connected to my list?
My business reputation is on the line and I will be sending an explanatory email to all of my customers regarding the new integration with ShopSync.

Hi, thank you for your feedback. There could be various reasons why subscriber counts have gone up after the initial sync. In most situations, we've seen that the legacy 'Mailchimp for Shopify' integration was previously installed, and contacts were not added to the list. This could've been with failures on submission to Mailchimp with merge tags being required, rejected by the API or just missed entirely. When ShopSync was activated, these customers have finally been added the list. We've seen many examples that the old app just wasn't working correctly.

If you're at all concerned that subscribers on a list that shouldn't be or you think it's been too long of period since these customers were contacted, we recommend sending out a light email - maybe something to the effect of "We're updating our customer newsletter software, click here to opt-out if you don't want to receive further messages from us". Another option is to bulk unsubscribe these users based on their last purchase.

Also, it's worth mentioning how our initial sync works. Before any data is processed by ShopSync, we perform integrity checks with Mailchimp to ensure these customers can be sent to the list that is connected.

For example, if someone has unsubscribed from list in the past, we won't add the email again. We'll also update Shopify with the correct status that Mailchimp shows. That way, the most current subscriber status in Mailchimp is synced with your store. However, if you've deleted contacts deleted from a list there are some important things to know.

If you delete a customer from an audience, it removes their history from Mailchimp. Unsubscribing keeps a trace of the customer, and we use it as a baseline for our logic. If there's no record of the customer in Mailchimp, we will then add them a subscriber if they've Accepted Marketing in Shopify.
The deleting customer scenario versus unsubscribing has been challenging for everyone. It's a source for many of the "Help! my contact list counts have increased!" support requests we've received. Unfortunately, there's no perfect solution, if we don't see a customer in Mailchimp (because they've been deleted), then we have no choice but to honor the Shopify marketing status that is available. Otherwise, we're going to get complaints the other way.

After the initial sync is complete, we'll continue adding customers, orders, and products from your store to Mailchimp as transactions occur. We'll add customers that visit your store who are deemed transactional as well. That way, you can use Mailchimp's automations to trigger abandoned carts and order notifications. If someone unsubscribes from a Mailchimp campaign or automation in the future, we'll sync the opt-out status back to Shopify and vice versa.

Great way to connect my store to Mailchimp + it's totally free!!

Connected my store to my mailchimp account overnight without any trouble or hassle. Now we're receiving email updates from new customers so that we can re-market to them under mailchimp in the future! I was afraid that I would have to transfer my customer data over to a new email marketing platform but I really like mailchimp and wish they would reconnect with shopify.

Till then ShopSync will do.

Cheers!

This app worked for me as the new Mailchimp integration however, my audience count doubled on the day I installed it. There are no duplicate contacts but the counts are doubled and the analytics for install day show a doubling. What's going on? I hope my audience isn't being hit with double emails. Can someone from support respond? Additionally, can't find a way to communicate with ShopSync support.

I appreciate the explanation of what went wrong. It would be very helpful if you could tell me how to correct the issue.

Hi there, we saw your review and wanted to get in touch. Up until late yesterday (4/3/19), our app was engineered to include past customers who "Accept email marketing", orders, and products in Shopify. If they showed unsubscribed in Shopify, we ignored the email. In other words, we looked at Shopify as the "truth" and nothing else.

Although our intentions for this were done for all the right reasons, it, unfortunately, didn't work for everyone as you saw with your subscriber counts going up. With how we used to perform the initial sync, it would have been possible to re-subscribe users if they had opted out from a Mailchimp list previously. Or, it's also possible the old integration missed real subscribers.

Now, we've changed up how we handle the data from Shopify to Mailchimp on the initial sync. Here's more information on how it works:

Before any data is processed by ShopSync, we perform integrity checks with Mailchimp to ensure these customers can be sent to the list that is connected.

For example, if someone opted out of a list in the past, we won't add the email again. We'll also update Shopify with the correct status that Mailchimp shows. That way, the most current subscriber status in Mailchimp is synced with the store.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, let us know if you have any follow up questions. We can be reached anytime at support@shopsync.io.

I'm leaving a 5 star review as up until this point I've been really happy with the ShopSync integration with MailChimp. However, I do have an issue that needs to be resolved asap.

In regards to order notifications, when I click “Start Sending” in MailChimp, I hit a roadblock, as a pop-up window appears which asks me to confirm “My store is up to date”.

When I check the box “My store is up to date”, the “Start” button is still greyed out and nothing happens.

Any assistance you could provide in enabling order notifications would be greatly appreciated.

So far so good. Their support has been great despite the fact I'm sure they got flooded with inquiries around the May 12 deadline. Answered three of my questions rapidly and thoroughly. Post sync, I also ended up with more subscribers than I originally had, so hopefully there's no major issue there. Regardless, I'm super thankful this app exists because the other solutions were going to burn some serious time, and this app at least provides a bridge in case you want to test the other email solutions while still having a fully functional mailchimp. Thanks ShopSync!

We use Mailchimp to send an email once a month to existing customers about sales and new products. We also post the same content on social media, but most of our repeat customers come from the monthly email. Returning customers now make up 30% of our orders! We have a small enough audience that we are still on the FREE plan, and the ROI on the time makes it very worthwhile. We have had no problems with the Shopify-Mailchimp integration in two years. Definitely will be worth it to get a paid plan with scheduled emails and customer segmentation once we get big enough.

I have 1600 subscribers in my list, so my Mailchimp is free. Once i added the integration, Mailchimp wants to charge me, even though my audience is less than 2000 subscribers. So I get an error that makes no sense. I have not gotten any value out of this, other than being able to add the products to the email campaigns, but they honestly look crappy and the product image does not import linked to the product, so i have to copy the link from the button. At this point i could have just done it myself. Waste of time. and now I have to pay $60+ to send an email that was free before... i just hope i m not also getting charged for the app

This app does not sync automations or cart recovery campaigns. Also if you had a mulit-email cart workflow setup it will not transfer over and you will be prompted to upgrade your account to send more than 1 cart recovery email. The price is $14.99 a month. This whole thing where mailchimp no longer syncs to shopify was just a con set up to switch the free accounts over to paid accounts. You will still get some features with a free account but the most valuable aspects of the old free account will no longer work unless you pay up. Please be aware of this BEFORE you use this 3rd party app. Just another business squeezing small business owners for another dime.

Hi there, thank you for the feedback. We saw your review, and it sounds like there may be some confusion about what our app does. ShopSync is only designed to be a connector between Shopify and Mailchimp. Our app is engineered to sync all orders, customers (who accept marketing), products, and revenue data. All automations and pop-up configuration is still handled in your Mailchimp dashboard business as usual; we only send data to your audience.

Also, you mention a cost of $14.99 for our app. That's not accurate. Our app is free, and we have no paid plans at this time. We may have an (optional) plan in the future for paid support options, but there is nothing in place at this time.

If you would like to learn more about ShopSync, please visit our website or reach out to our support team anytime. You can visit us at shopsync.io and support@shopsync.io respectively.
